Internet Brothers Presents: Site of the Year Nominations

Listed below are the original qualifiers for the Internet Brothers Presents 1999 Site of the Year Award. Included is the web site name, with a link to its URL, a brief description, and the site's method of qualification. We sincerely thank all these great sites for improving the quality of the World Wide Web.


  Fortress Web Design  - sound advice on design and content for beginner and intermediate web designers. Variety is what makes the web so interesting. Basic design guidelines and examples that will improve the overall layout, content structure, and navigation of web pages. Qualified as Site of the Month in January and Elite Site selection in October.


  IGOR Communications  - the online brochure for a small advertising, marketing and public relations firm based in Washington, D.C. Splendid design elements highlight this presentation. Qualified as Site of the Month and Award of Distinction selection in February.


  Anonymomma's World  - visit the only place on the web where one can be entertained with movie reviews, art, interactive web serial, music, hot flashes 'n more brought to life by a laughing woman with a bag on her head. Qualified as Site of the Month and Award of Distinction selection in March.


  Elise's Zesty Weasel  - loads of free graphics and tips/advice/info/resources for those just starting out. Where surfers can come for a refreshment, a laugh, a little jab of originality. Primarily, a bunch 'o fun. Qualified as Site of the Month in April and Elite Site selection in October.


  Bald Eagle Information  - Once endangered in all of the lower 48 states, the bald eagle's status was upgraded to "threatened" in 1994, two decades after the banning of DDT and the passing of laws to protect both eagles and their nesting trees. Find out more about the noble bird of prey at this absolutely gorgeous and stunning tribute. Qualified as Site of the Month in May.


  iAgora  - created specifically for and by international people. By centralizing people and information, the site helps you avoid certain problems related to traveling, living, and returning from abroad. Qualified as Site of the Month and Award of Distinction selection in June.


  Colors of India  - An interactive site celebrating in virtuality the Indian Festival of Colors. The colors are represented interactively by changes on a pattern. But don't stop there, this site is loaded with content, including in-depth coverage of this year's solar eclipse. Qualified as Site of the Month in July.


  Linda Cox  - Articles and an ezine for online marketers who want to put their feet up for a few minutes. Quickly becoming a cult favorite, Linda's nonsensical writing style delivers some of the best common sense you will find anywhere. Qualified as Site of the Month in August.


  Electricity Online  - A fun and interactive study of Electricity, its applications and its history. Features many experiments and visual demonstrations, as well as interactive areas for student and educator participation. Qualified as Site of the Month and Award of Distinction selection in September.


  The Beeline  - the original Beehive, a prototypical community Web site serving South Central Indiana and Bee-yond. Created over a 5-year period, its Netizen approach and Helpware attitude make it the Web Army Knife™ for the Information Age. Qualified as an Elite Site selection in October.


  Your Financial Planner  - Ric Edelman's knowledge, innovative advice and services, combined with his ability to explain complex financial concepts in a fun and entertaining way, helps his clients, listeners, viewers, readers and seminar audiences improve their understanding about money. Qualified as Site of the Month in October.


  It's the End of the World  - An historical overview/personal commentary on apocalyptic prophecy, Millennial Madness and the phenomenon of Doomsday obsession. Learn of the origin of calendars, and the wacky, unfortunate prognosticators. Qualified as an Elite Site selection in November.
This one is our 1999 Site of the Year.


  Greets  - Enables consumers to create and send customized and personalized greetings. Greets are rich multimedia created on the Internet and delivered to the recipient via CD-ROM. Why send a card when you can send a party? Qualified as Site of the Month and an Elite Site selection in November.


  Chandra X-ray Observatory  - NASA's newest Great Observatory is the gateway to the hot universe of black holes, exploding stars, and galaxy clusters. The web site is image and feature-rich for students, educators, and you and me. Qualified as an Elite Site selection in December.
